USC storms back in ninth to topple WSU
Dante Flores’ bases-clearing double highlighted an eight-run ninth inning Friday night as USC (15-8, 3-4) rallied for a 15-10 win at Washington State (12-11, 2-5) to open a three-game Pac-12 Conference baseball series.
The Cougars led 10-6 after a five-run sixth capped by Patrick Claussen’s two-run single.
• Gonzaga’s West Coast Conference home game against Pepperdine was rained out. The teams will attempt a doubleheader today, starting at 3 p.m.
• Washington’s Pac-12 game at Oregon State was rained out. The teams will attempt a doubleheader today.
Softball
Jace Williams’ two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave No. 1-ranked California a 2-1 win over No. 3 Washington (32-2, 3-1) in Pac-12 Conference play at Berkeley, Calif.
The Golden Bears (31-1, 4-0) rallied against Kaitlin Inglesby (16-1) with one out in the seventh.
• Jenifer Rosie (5-6) pitched a complete-game four-hitter as North Idaho (16-25, 11-11 Scenic West Athletic Conference) defeated Southern Nevada 4-0 to split a doubleheader at Moses Lake.
The Coyotes (16-18, 11-11) won the opener 8-7 as Alicia Fireliein went 2 for 4 with three RBIs.
• Community Colleges of Spokane’s home doubleheader against Walla Walla was postponed by rain and will be played at noon Sunday.
