COMING UP: Saturday vs. San Diego, 4 p.m. (KHQ/Root)

OUTLOOK: The Toreros are chasing Santa Clara for the fourth seed (and a bye into the conference tournament quarterfinals), but SCU owns the tiebreaker with a sweep over USD. Gonzaga needed a closing 12-6 run to rally past San Diego 65-63 earlier this month. Guards Johnny Dee (21 points, seven rebounds) and Chris Anderson (nine points, 11 assists) carried USD, which grabbed 14 offensive rebounds in the second half. The 5-7, 140-pound Anderson is second in the conference in steals (2.2) and fourth in assists (5.5). The Toreros, who play at Portland tonight, have lost two straight and six of their last eight.
