Georgetown wins NAIA

Monty Wilson scored 23 points while Vic Moses added 14 points and 13 rebounds to help Georgetown (Ky.) cruise to an 88-62 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) in the finals of the NAIA men’s basketball championship Tuesday night at Kansas City, Mo. The 13th-seeded Tigers won the title for the first time since 1998. After needing a last-second shot by Wilson to win its semifinal Monday, Georgetown had no problem in the title game. Georgetown (28-8) had a 28-point lead with just under 4 minutes remaining. The sixth-seeded Lions (33-5) only shot 29 percent from the field. – Associated Press
