Idaho picked third, EWU seventh in Big Sky volleyball poll

In its first year back in the Big Sky since 1996, the Idaho women’s volleyball team was picked to finish third in the conference in a vote by the league’s head coaches.

The Vandals received two first-place votes and 95 points in the poll, behind the 108 points and four first-place votes received by co-favorites Idaho State and Northern Arizona.

“It will be more competitive in the Big Sky, it’s a good move for us,” Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan said. “From top to bottom I think there’s going to be more competition.”

Eastern Washington has been tabbed to finish seventh, receiving 60 points in the poll.

“It’s hard to project where our team will fit in the conference,” said associated head coach Michael King. “The strength of our program is in the leadership of the senior class.”
