GU men host to D-II opponent

MEn’s hoops: Gonzaga entertains NCAA Division II St. Thomas Aquinas College at 6 tonight at McCarthey Athletic Center. The game is part of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

The 13th-ranked Bulldogs (3-0) are off to a strong start with a 38-point average winning margin. The Zags have seven players averaging at least 8.3 points and four are in double figures. Senior Kevin Pangos leads the way at 13 points per game.

The Spartans, from Sparkill, New York, are 0-2.

Shock lose Tennell to S.J.

AFL: The Spokane Shock lost another key piece to their offense with wide receiver Adron Tennell joining the rival San Jose SaberCats.

Tennell had 58 catches for 574 yards and 14 touchdowns in an injury-shortened 2014 season. He has 413 career receptions for over 4,600 yards and 116 TDs. The former Oklahoma Sooner joins ex-Shock quarterback Erik Meyer on the SaberCats roster.

Hawks’ Lockett fined $10,000

NFL: Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockett has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for striking an opponent in the head.

Lockett was ejected from last Sunday’s game at Kansas City for hitting Chiefs defensive back Kurt Coleman after Coleman shoved him in the back.

Atlanta receivers Roddy White and Devin Hester each were fined $8,268 for their role in a scrap with the Panthers last Sunday. Hester dived headfirst into a pile trying to knock Panthers’ Josh Norman off teammate Harry Douglas. White struck another player in the head area.
