Twelve String ’s Barrel Wednesday release is a Belgian dark strong ale (7.3 percent alcohol by volume) aged in Heaven Hills bourbon barrels.

– Laughing Dog is September’s featured brewery at Nectar Wine and Beer in Kendall Yards, with 219 Pilsner, Trail Ride session pale, Purebred Citra pale, Grapefruit Pale, Peach Sour and Alpha Dog imperial IPA pouring all month. That kicks off with a tasting Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring a flight of all six paired with cheese and salami for $10.

– The north and south Growler Guys locations on Friday will tap Labor of Love, a Munich helles lager collaboration (5 percent ABV) between the parent chain and Widmer in honor of Labor Day.

– The Spokane Valley Total Wine is pouring Orlison samples Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a brewery rep on hand.

Big Barn is offering free beer and food to anyone who helps harvest its homegrown hops off the vines on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 4 (don’t worry about weather, it’s done indoors).

A look ahead at the week (and holiday weekend) in local craft beer:

– The IBU (Inland Brewers Unite) homebrew group is holding a public social at the recently opened FILT pub and art gallery in the Garland District on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a $1 discount on pints (outside food welcome).

Pilgrim’s in Coeur d’Alene features five Firestone Walker beers in a tasting Wednesday at 3:30: Pivo Pils pilsner, Opal dry-hopped farmhouse ale, Union Jack IPA (which will be on tap for discount growler fills), Wookey Jack black rye IPA and Helldorado blonde barleywine. And it will follow up on Friday at the same time with a sampling of Labor Day picks including Sockeye High Lakes session IPA, Odell Brombeere blackberry gose and Double Mountain IRA, along with Nectar Creek Waggle Honey mead cider and One Tree’s Dry Hopped.

– MickDuff’s in Sandpoint is releasing two small-batch beers for September’s First Tap Thursday : a Brown Sugar Oktoberfest Marzen lager (6.4 percent ABV, 25 International Bitterness Units) and a reprise of July’s Peeled Pale Ale (5.4, 56) adding extra grapefruit juice post-fermentation in addition to grapefruit, orange and lemon peel. Specials run from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Beer Hall, along with live music.

– Steady Flow Growler House in Spokane Valley celebrates its grand opening Friday through Sunday. Free (unfilled) growlers will be given away to the first 100 people through the door each day, and local brewers will be on hand including No-Li on Friday, Twelve String on Saturday and River City on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.

– More than 60 regional craft beers will be on tap for Schweitzer Mountain Resort’s annual Fall Fest from Saturday through Labor Day, along with live music and arts, crafts and food vendors. Tasting packages start at $10.
