Dolphins release ex-Coug Gibson

Football: Receivers Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson have been released by the Miami Dolphins after combining for 21 starts last year.

Neither move was a surprise. Hartline was due to make $5.9 million in 2015, the third year of a $30.8 million, five-year contract he signed in 2013. Gibson, who played at Washington State, was to make $3.2 million in the final year of a $9.8 million, three-year deal he signed in 2013.

Hartline has spent his entire six-year career with Miami and twice was a 1,000-yard receiver.

Gibson played in 14 games in 2014 and started five times. He had 29 catches for 295 yards and one score.

In his seven-year career, Gibson has played in 76 games with 233 receptions, 2,711 yards and 13 touchdowns.

UTEP’s Floyd suspended

Basketball: UTEP coach Tim Floyd was suspended for a game by Conference USA for failing to leave the court quickly after receiving two quick technical fouls and getting ejected in a loss at Louisiana Tech.

The league said Friday that Floyd, a former head coach at Idaho, violated the league’s conduct policy, which calls for an automatic suspension if a coach doesn’t leave the floor in a timely manner after an ejection. Floyd was ejected with 10:05 remaining in UTEP’s 77-60 loss.

He will miss today’s game at Southern Miss.

NBA to release ‘last 2 minutes’

Basketball: Starting Monday and continuing throughout the playoffs, the NBA will release play-by-play reports of all calls and relevant no-calls in the final minutes of close games. Such information had been shared only internally.

The assessments will be released by 5 p.m. the day after each game and will stand as the league’s comment on whether the most disputed calls were correct. The reports will focus on the last two minutes of games that were within five points at the two- minute mark and all of any overtime periods.
