WCC basketball: Vasa Pusica perfect, San Diego beats Santa Clara

Vasa Pusica scored a career-high 16 points on a perfect shooting night to lead San Diego over Santa Clara 69-64, in San Diego Thursday night.

Pusica, a freshman reserve guard from Serbia, was 4 of 4 from the floor, including both 3-point attempts, and 6 of 6 from the line.

Brandon Clark led Santa Clara with 22 points.

BYU 78, San Francisco 74: Tyler Haws scored 28 points and the Cougars rebounded from back-to-back losses, holding off the Dons in Provo, Utah.

Mark Tollefsen led San Francisco with 22 points.

Saint Mary’s 68, Loyola Marymount 64: Kerry Carter hit 6 of 8 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead the Gaels to a win over the Lions in Moraga, California.

Brad Waldow added 14 points and Aaron Bright had 13 with 7 assists for the Gaels. Saint Mary’s had a 33-24 advantage on the boards.

Godwin Okonji had 14 points and Ayodeji Egbeyemi added 10 for the Lions.

Pepperdine 50, Pacific 43: Jett Raines scored 14 points and Stacy Davis had nine points and nine rebounds to lead the Waves to a win over the Tigers in Stockton, California.

Ray Bowles scored 10 points for Pacific, which lost its fourth straight.

The Waves won their fourth conference road game for the first time since 2004.
