No. 15 Duke women defeat Idaho 74-68 in Cancun Challenge
CANCUN, Mexico – Azura Stevens scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead No. 15 Duke over Idaho 74-68 on Thursday at the Cancun Challenge.
Stevens was 11 of 16 from the floor and collected her fourth straight double-double. Rebecca Greenwell added 17 points for the Blue Devils (4-1).
Duke had a 48-29 advantage on the boards, and Idaho tried to combat the Blue Devils’ strength inside by putting up 36 3-pointers, making 10.
Geraldine McCorkell scored 18 points for the Vandals (3-1), Christina Salvatore had 15 points and nine rebounds and Connie Ballestero added 13 points.
Duke led 36-27 at halftime. Salvatore opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer but Duke scored the next 12 points, part of a 15-2 run to lead 51-32.
Idaho got within four, 65-61, with 4:51 left in the game but didn’t score again until there were 28 seconds remaining and Duke ahead 71-64.
