1. Spokanity and Grohls 7 p.m. Friday, The Big Dipper, 171 S. Washington St. Pacifica Literary Review and Willow Springs are teaming up to present an East-meets-West night of Washington’s finest poetry and prose. Wordsmiths from Seattle and Eastern Washington will gather for the greatest assemblage of literary talent between the Snake River and the Salish Sea. 2. “Mulholland Drive” 6 p.m. Friday, Coeur d’Alene Library, Community Room, 702 E. Front Ave., Coeur d’Alene. The neo-noir mystery, directed by David Lynch, tells the story of an aspiring actress named Betty Elms (Naomi Watts), newly arrived in Los Angeles, who meets and befriends an amnesic woman (Laura Harring) hiding in an apartment that belongs to Elms’s aunt. The story includes several other seemingly unrelated vignettes that eventually connect, as well as some surreal and darkly comic scenes and images that relate to the cryptic narrative. 146 minutes. 3. “Art in the Making” 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Plaza Shops, 210 Sherman Avenue, Coeur d’Alene. Watch 12 accomplished regional artists draw, paint and sculpt from two live models accompanied by live music. (208) 765-6006. Admission: FREE

4. Spokane Train Show 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St., Spokane Valley. More than 100 vendors will have close to 200 tables of railroad related items for sale − model and toy trains, photographs, books, toy autos and trucks, train memorabilia and more. Modeling clinics will be held throughout the day and there will be several operating train layouts. There will be an interactive train layout for kids to play with. (509) 991-2317. 5. Stage to Screen: “The Audience” 2 p.m. Sunday, Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave. Helen Mirren reprises her Olivier Award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II, following her Academy Award win for the same role in “The Queen.” Encore screenings of the original West End production of “The Audience,” captured live in London in 2013, feature an exclusive Q&A with director Stephen Daldry and Mirren. 7. Ignite! Community Theatre: Shakespeare Selections 6:30 p.m. Monday, Argonne Library, 4322 N. Argonne Road, and 7 p.m. Thursday, Spokane Valley Library , 12004 E. Main Ave. Ignite! Community Theatre celebrates the Bard with small troupe performances that include lectures, scenes from Shakespeare’s plays, and some audience participation. http://www.scld.org. Admission: FREE

8. Creepy Hallow Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m.-midnight, through Oct. 31, Northwest Renaissance Festival, 6493 Highway 291, 18 miles north of Spokane, between mile markers 18 and 19, Nine Mile Falls. Village guides will provide safe escort through the haunted Creepy Hallow for those that choose to be frightened beyond belief.
