Second-ranked Florida ends Eastern Washington 4-game streak in volleyball
Ziva Recek had a match-high 15 kills Thursday to lead No. 2 Florida to a 3-1 win over Eastern Washington at the Outriggers Resorts Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu.
The Gators (5-0) hit .414 for the match to EWU’s .101.
Allie Schumacher had 11 kills and six digs for the Eagles (4-4), who had won four consecutive matches.
• Alaina Gentili (Central Valley) had 26 kills on the day and Sam Alumbres added 30 assists as Community Colleges of Spokane (5-9) split two matches at the Scottsdale (Arizona) Classic.
• Karly Cantu (Mt. Spokane) and Kylee Chavez combined for 51 assists as host Blue Mountain (9-5) outlasted North Idaho 3-2 in nonconference play at Pendleton, Oregon.
Brenna Meehan (Post Falls) had a match-high 16 kills and Brittany Gay (Lake City) 48 assists for the Cardinals (8-6).
• Courtney Schwan and Lianna Sybeldon combined for 19 kills as No. 8 Washington (6-0) rolled to a 3-0 nonconference win over visiting Cal State Northridge (1-7).

Sam Engle scored off a free kick in the seventh minute to give Whitworth (3-0-0) a 1-0 victory over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (1-1-0) in nonconference play at Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Washington.
