A man was arrested for felony injury to a child in Coeur d’Alene on Friday after a 17-month-old baby in his care showed signs of head trauma.
Police and medics were called to the 800 block of North Fifth Street in Coeur d’Alene on Friday evening and found the baby having difficulty breathing and showing signs of “obvious head trauma,” according to a news release from the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.
The baby was home alone with his stepfather, 31-year-old Joseph J. Davis. Davis told police he’d been alone with the baby for 20 minutes and didn’t know how he was injured.
Doctors at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane reported that the baby had severe trauma to his skull and brain, the news release said.
