California man seduced Spokane County girl and moved here to rape her, records say

A 42-year-old man is accused of seducing a 15-year-old girl in online gaming forums and moving from California to Spokane to pursue a sexual relationship with her, according to court documents filed this week.

After moving to the area, Matthew C. Grissom allegedly visited the girl at her home in Fairfield on nights when her mother and stepfather worked graveyard shifts, according to court documents.

The girl told sheriff’s deputies the relationship was consensual, according to court documents. She said they were boyfriend and girlfriend and that he gave her a “promise ring.”

He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on Thursday and faces at least two charges of third-degree child rape.
