Area gymnasts head to state
No Greater Spokane League team qualified for the state gymnastics meets, but 19 individuals will compete when jumping and tumbling begin Friday and conclude Saturday at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
Qualifying for individual finals in 4A and 3A/2A/1A is Friday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Finals are Saturday morning, beginning at 11:20.
The all-around title in both divisions are also decided Friday.
Area qualifiers in 4A vault are Zella Conley and Taylor Britz of Mead and McKinzie Carter of Central Valley.
Area qualifiers in 4A bars are Conley, Britz, Carter, Kaitlyn Engen of Mead, Jassic Harpel of Ferris and Chloe Robbins and Anna Lamoreaux of CV.
Area qualifiers in 4A beam are Carter and teammates Savannah Folsom and Bethany Gehrett. In 4A floor are Harpel, Carter and Demri Oglesbee and Kendall Watson of University. In 3A vault are Reigan Kampmann, Brooke Fraser and Jade Anderson of Mt. Spokane and Olivia Hovater of Cheney. In 3A bars are Kampmann and teammates Rylee Anderson and Jade Anderson and Alexis Miller of Cheney. In 3A beam are Kampmann, Fraser, Anderson and teammate Carly Hattenburg. In 3A floor are Kampmann, Jade Anderson, Hattenburg, Fraser and teammate Devyn Adams.
