Ross Point facility on Spokane River targeted for upgrades

From staff reports

The Ross Point Recreation Site on the Spokane River in Post Falls is targeted for some upgrades.

Bureau of Land Management officials are inviting the public to visit the 2.5 acre site on Maplewood Avenue from 5 to 6:30 p.m. July 6 for a tour and informal discussions about plans.

Ross Point is a rare public access point on that stretch of the river, said Mitch Owens, BLM outdoor recreation planner. The agency wants to create better amenities at the site, while keeping it a free, day-use area, he said.

Paved parking, restroom facilities, a group picnic pavilion and a small craft/fishing dock are some of the ideas. BLM officials are talking to the city of Post Falls about future maintenance of the site. Conceptual drawings are available for review at: http://bit.ly/rosspointrecsite
