East Valley girls defeat Ellensburg, capture third place

Michael Anderson Correspondent
The East Valley Knights rebounded from a disappointing performance against Shorecrest in the State 2A tournament on Friday to secure the third-place trophy with a win over the Ellensburg Bulldogs 54-39 in the Yakima Valley SunDome on Saturday.

The win avenged a third-place game loss to Ellensburg in 2015.

East Valley (23-4) secured the highest state tournament finish in school history with the win.

Hannah Burland capped off a stellar career with a 23-point, eight-rebound performance. She scored 20 of those points after halftime and was a first-team all-tournament selection by the media covering the event.
