The man who allegedly drove halfway across the country with a missing Spokane teenager has been charged with first-degree kidnapping.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officers arrested Zachary Jones, 30, after they found him sleeping in a car at a rest stop outside of Columbus, Ohio.

He was with 16-year-old Kiera Inman, a Rogers High School sophomore who went missing Monday. Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Inman. Her family said Wednesday they were heading to Ohio to pick her up.

Jones faces a second charge for grand theft of a motor vehicle, according to the Tri-County Regional Jail roster.

Spokane police spokeswoman Officer Teresa Fuller said Jones will likely be extradited back to Spokane, but that may not happen if Ohio authorities file additional charges or the FBI decides to charge Jones.
