CV romps past Titans, 55-16

The Central Valley football team wasn’t about to stub its toe with the biggest game of the year a week away.

The Bears took care of their cross-district rival, running away from the University Titans 55-16 in a 4A Greater Spokane League game Friday at U-Hi.

The win sets up a showdown next Friday at Gonzaga Prep for the league title. The game also will decide the league’s two postseason seeds.

Running back Braedan Orrino scored three touchdowns while gaining 139 yards.

CV (7-1, 4-0) led 30-2 at halftime.

The Bears added three more touchdowns in the third quarter. The young Titans (0-4, 2-6) didn’t have an answer.

CV quarterback Conner DeGeest completed 11 of 21 attempts for 190 yards and two TDs.
