Washington State senior Derek Bayley closed with a 2-under 69 on Thursday at Tumble Creek in Cle Elum to finish second in the Washington State Men’s Amateur Golf Championship.
Bayley shot 7-under 207 for 54 holes, two strokes behind Bellarmine Prep senior Joe Highsmith, the 4A state champion who has signed with Pepperdine.
Bayley, a Lakeland High graduate, has finished second in the tournament two straight years.
Ryan Maine, a Freeman High product who will be a freshman at WSU, made eight birdies and fired a 5-under 66 to move into a tie for ninth.
