Bach Festival returns with three summer events

In recent years, the Northwest Bach Festival has expanded from a multi-day event held in late winter to a year-round series, with concerts held spring, summer and winter.
This weekend marks the return of SummerFest, featuring three concerts held around Spokane and Couer d’Alene. On Sunday and Monday, Nikita Borisevich (violin), Amanda Howard Phillips (violin), Jeannette Wee-Yang (viola), John Marshall (cello) and festival artistic director Zuill Bailey (cello) will perform Franz Schubert’s Quintet in C Major for audiences in Spokane at Barrister Winery, 1213 W. Railroad Ave. (3 p.m. Sunday, $40) and the Hagadone Events Center, 904 Floating Green Drive, Coeur d’Alene (7:30 p.m. Monday, $45).
The following week, on Sept. 1, the festival will host pianist Navah Perlman, daughter of legendary violinist Ithzak Perlman in a program of music and memories she calls “Unforgettable Musical Memoirs.” Perlman, who made her professional debut at age 15 and is a highly regarded concert and chamber pianist, calls her show a “classical cabaret,” and said it will feature stories and photos from her life, as well as music by the likes of Robert Schumann, Frederic Chopin and Sergei Prokofiev. Her performance will be at Hamilton Studios, 1427 W. Dean Ave., at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45.
