Report of abandoned children leads to search for naked man

A police helicopter helped officers find a naked man who had left his three young children home alone late Tuesday night.

Spokane police officers were on an unrelated call near Ninth Avenue and Perry Street around 10:15 p.m. when a resident approached them and said there were three young children at a nearby home who had been left alone for hours, according to a police department news release. The children were all under the age of 16.

Officers went to the home and began looking for the parents. They soon learned that the father of the children had been seen running naked through Liberty Park several hours earlier. Air 1 was called in to help search for the man and he was found near Altamont and Interstate 90.

The man was disoriented and dehydrated and he was taken to a local hospital, the news release said.
