Whitworth Pirates sweep Pacific Boxers in softball

Tessa Matthews went 3 for 3 with three runs batted in to power the Whitworth Pirates (19-5, 10-2) to a 6-4 victory over the Pacific Boxers (5-18, 3-10) and a sweep of their Northwest Conference doubleheader on Monday in Forest Grove, Oregon.

In the opener, Myranda Ramirez drove in four runs with a pair of hits, Shannon Wessel had three hits and three RBIs and Michelle Silva homered to propel the Pirates to a 15-1 win.

Madi Perez upped her record to 11-1 with the win in the nightcap. Ashley Trueblood improved to 6-1 with a win in the opener.
