Prep soccer roundup: Pullman eliminates West Valley in District 7 2A

Sam Tingstad, Jared Holstead and Won-Jun Kim scored and second-seeded Pullman eliminated No. 5 seed West Valley 3-0 in a District 7 2A first round matchup in Pullman on Thursday.

In the other first-round game, third-seeded Cheney eliminated No. 4 seed Clarkston 4-0.

Pullman faces Cheney at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the second round loser-out game.

The winner will face top-seeded East Valley on Tuesday with both teams advancing to the Great Northern League-Central Washington crossovers on May 13.

District 7 1A at SFCC

Colville 3, Newport 2: Neal Meyer saved the first penalty kick of the shootout to help lead the Colville Indians (12-3) to a 3-2 win over the Newport Grizzlies (9-4) in the District 7 1A championship at Spokane Falls CC.

Ty Sandaine scored the equalizer in the 79th minute to send it to overtime.

Colville earns the No. 1 seed and a home game in a crossover match on May 13 for a state berth. Newport takes the second seed and must travel.
