Police report attempted child luring on South Hill

An attempted child luring was reported on the lower South Hill Friday morning, according to the Spokane Police Department.

A middle school girl was walking to her bus stop in the 2800 block of West Seventh Avenue at about 8:15 a.m. when a car pulled up next to her and the driver offered her a ride. The girl said no, but the man asked several more times before opening his door and telling the girl to “Get in the damn car,” police said. The man drove away when the girl pulled out her cellphone.

The car is described as an older, boxy, dirty 4-door black sedan with a scratch on the left front panel near the driver’s side door. The interior was tan or gray, and there was a pack of cigarettes on the dashboard.

The driver was a while male in his late 30s to mid-40s with a medium build, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with hair that was short, gray and receding. He had a deep voice and was wearing a watch on his left wrist. His clothes were described as old or dirty, and he was wearing jeans, a gray shirt and a black hoodie.

Anyone who knows the identity of the driver is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
