Volleyball: Lindsey Schmidt’s big night helps Shadle Park sweep Lewis and Clark

With the air quality index (AQI) back in the unhealthy range due to widespread smoke in the area, all Washington outdoors games and most in Idaho were postponed or canceled on Thursday.

Volleyball

Lindsey Schmidt led Shadle Park with 16 kills and and the Highlanders (3-1) beat visiting Lewis and Clark (1-3) in straight sets (25-21, 29-27, 25-19) in a nonleague match on Thursday. Amanda Reed led Lewis and Clark with seven kills, two blocks and two kills.

Coeur d’Alene 3, Central Valley 2: Kelly Horning had 13 kills with five blocks and visiting Coeur d’Alene (4-3) beat Central Valley (0-4) in five sets (25-23, 16-25, 20-25, 25-12, 15-10) in a nonleague match on Thursday. Kaitlyn White led the Bears with 12 kills and ten digs.

Ferris 3, Moses Lake 0: Annika Briggs recorded a team-high 15 blocks and Ferris (1-1) topped visiting Moses Lake (0-1) in three sets (25-11, 25-14, 25-12) in a nonleague match on Thursday. Katelyn Brock added 22 assists and Carly Cox registered five service aces.

Great Northern

East Valley 3, Clarkston 0: Sydney Frogge had 26 assists and East Valley (2-1, 1-1) beat visiting Clarkston (1-2, 1-2) in straight sets (25-20, 25-11, 25-17) on Thursday. Mia Moore had five kills and three blocks for Clarkston.

Cheney 3, West Valley 0: Abby Witt recorded nine kills and Cheney (4-0, 2-0) beat visiting West Valley (1-3, 0-2) in a sweep (25-12, 25-13, 25-18). Peyton Stark added 22 assists with four aces.

Northeast A

Colville 3, Medical Lake 0: Molly Schawls had a team-record 14 aces and visiting Colville (4-0) beat Medical Lake (0-4) in straight sets (25-13, 25-7, 25-14). Hailey Sanders led Medical Lake with three kills.

Lakeside (WA) 3, Chewelah 0: Keeley Morrison had 11 kills and two blocks and visiting Lakeside (4-0) beat Chewelah (1-2) in straight sets (25-8, 25-9, 25-16) on Thursday. Elizabeth Chalmers added four kills and seven assists for the Cougars.

Northeast 2B

Colton 3, Asotin 0: Emily Schultheis had eight kills, nine digs and two blocks and visiting Colton (4-0) coasted to victory (25-9, 25-19, 25-12) over Asotin (0-2). Josie Schultheis had nine digs and added five aces for the Wildcats.

Reardan 3, Wilbur-Creston 1: Reardan (1-1) defeated Wilbur-Creston (0-2) in four sets (18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-23.

Northeast 1B

Wellpinit 3, Columbia 0: Christian Carden-Flett spiked a season-high 21 kills and Wellpinit (1-2, 1-2) handled visiting Columbia (0-3, 0-3) in three sets (25-12, 25-11, 25-11). Lachelle Boyd added 17 assists and Lindsey Salinas had four service aces.

Idaho

Lewiston 3, Post Falls 1: Allison Munday spiked 17 kills as Lewiston (1-1, 1-0) handled visiting Post Falls (4-3, 2-2) in four sets (25-20, 25-23, 27-29, 25-23) in an Inland Empire 5A match on Thursday. Mackey Morris scored three service aces with 22 digs and Tessa Sarff recorded seven blocks for the Bengals.

Lakeland 3, Sandpoint 2: Lakeland (3-2, 1-1) outlasted host Sandpoint (1-2, 0-1) in five sets (28-30, 29-31, 25-17, 25-22, 15-7) in an Inland Empire 4A match on Thursday. Marina Breuner led Sandpoint with 30 assists and four service aces.

Kellogg 3, Priest River 2: Kellogg (1-1, 0-0) defeated host Priest River (0-2, 2-4) in five sets (19-25, 25-13, 25-15, 23-25, 15-12) in an Intermountain League match on Thursday night. Emilee Clark led Priest River with ten kills and four service aces.

St. Maries 3, Timberlake 1: Dakotah Wilks had 23 assists and St. Maries (3-2) took down visiting Timberlake (1-2) in four sets (25-16, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17) in a nonleague match on Thursday. McKeeley Tomkin had 31 assists for Timberlake.

Lakeside 3, Mullan 0: Samantha Adrian registered seven service aces and Lakeside (2-4, 1-1) defeated visiting Mullan (0-2, 0-2) in three sets (25-15, 25-7, 25-16) in a North Star League match. Alyssa SiJohn added 27 assists for Lakeside.

Wallace at Clark Fork: Ellie Kiebert recorded six service aces and Clark Fork (3-0, 2-0) handled visiting Wallace (0-1, 0-1) in a sweep (25-18, 25-22, 25-11) in a North Star League match on Thursday. Hailey Bristol added five aces for the Wampus Cats.
