Aaron Best is best: Eastern Washington football coach named Hero Sports FCS Coach of the Year
After weeks of seeing his players earn conference and national awards, Eastern Washington football coach Aaron Best was named the Hero Sports FCS Coach of the Year on Saturday.
Best earned 2,078 fan votes, nearly 40 percent of the total. North Dakota State’s Chris Klieman finished second with 1,127 votes.
The Eagles and Bison will turn their attention to the field, as the teams will play for the FCS national title on Jan. 5 in Frisco, Texas.
Best led the Eagles to a 12-2 record in his second season as head coach. EWU earned a spot in the championship game after routing Maine 50-19 on Dec. 15 in Cheney.
Eastern will return to practice Thursday in preparation for the title game.
