GSL girls: Dakotah Chastain’s late shot propels North Central over Mt. Spokane

Dakotah Chastain hit the go-ahead layup with 30 seconds remaining and North Central defeated visiting Mt. Spokane 58-55 in Greater Spokane League action on Tuesday.

After taking the lead on Chastain’s bucket, the Indians (8-6, 3-2) made a defensive stop and got the ball into the hands of leading scorer Quincy McDeid, who sank both free throws to give her 16 points on the night. Keana Bigsmoke added 13 points for the Indians, while Chastain finished with 12.

Emma Main paced Mt. Spokane (7-5, 3-2) with 16 points.

Central Valley 67, Lewis and Clark 44: Lexie Hull scored 24 points and the visiting Bears (11-0, 7-0) handled the Tigers (7-6, 5-2). Jacinta Buckley led Lewis and Clark with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Ferris 52, Shadle Park 50: Mayson Younger scored 22 points and hit the winning shot with half a second remaining and the Saxons (2-11, 1-6) defeated the visiting Highlanders (2-9, 1-4). After Shadle Park tied the game with 19 seconds left, Younger snagged an offensive rebound and put it back in for the win. Joselyn Whitney led the Highlanders with 14 points.

University 57, Mead 38: Ellie Boni scored 17 points and the Titans (8-5, 5-2) coasted past the visiting Panthers (4-9, 2-6). Erica Nessan led Mead with 12.

Gonzaga Prep 69, Rogers 17: Grace Hammon scored 12 points and the visiting Bullpups (8-5, 4-3) defeated the Pirates (1-12, 0-5). Akon Aleu led Rogers with nine points.
