Education notebook: Lake Spokane teacher receives award
Wed., Jan. 10, 2018
Julie Pomante has been named teacher of the month by Kids Newspaper, an award sponsored by STCU, Avista and Luigi’s Restaurant. Pomante teaches first grade at Lake Spokane Elementary School in the Nine Miles Falls School District. Pomante was nominated by one of her students to recognize the impact she has made on many of his family members including his mother, uncle and two of his cousins, all of whom previously had Pomante as a teacher.
Pomante was surprised with the award during an assembly on Jan. 4 and gifted with a “Gold Star” to display in her classroom, $100 for classroom purchases, a gift card to Luigi’s, and an engraved apple.
Local journalism is essential.
