Boys basketball: Collin Sather helps West Valley defeat East Valley

Collin Sather scored 17 points and West Valley (12-6, 6-4), ranked No. 13 in the WIAA RPI system, beat visiting East Valley (3-14, 1-9) 49-43 in a Great Northern League matchup on Friday. Christian Johnston led East Valley with 14 points.

Northeast A

Newport 78, Riverside 29: Owen Leslie and Adam Moorhead scored 15 points apiece to lead the No. 6 Grizzlies (10-2, 14-4) over the visiting Rams (0-12, 2-16). Tug Smith finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals for Newport.

Lakeside (WA) 37, Deer Park 36: Tristan Cox hit a runner as time expired and the visiting Eagles (10-9, 8-4) squeaked past the Stags (7-10, 5-7). Landon Harrington led Lakeside with 12 points and Chase Wisinger paced Deer Park with 21.

Chewelah 64, Colville 55: Gavin Parrot scored 22 points and the visiting Cougars (8-9, 5-7) beat the Indians (5-13, 2-10). Ty Sandaine led Colville with 13 points.

Northeast 2B

St. George’s 70, Springdale 45: Xander Werkman scored 25 points and the visiting No. 2 Dragons (16-0, 12-0) defeated the Chargers (7-9, 4-9). Enoch Clemmer scored 17 points to lead Springdale.

Liberty 68, Asotin 61: Justin Jeske scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and the No. 7 Lancers (14-2, 11-2) defeated the visiting Panthers (5-9, 5-7). Thomas Martin scored 26 points to lead Asotin.

Colfax 56, Reardan 30: Cal Gregory scored 19 points and the visiting No. 14 Bulldogs (12-4, 10-2) defeated the Indians (4-13, 3-10). Tyler Sprecher scored 15 points to lead Reardan.

Kettle Falls 73, Davenport 58: Dakota Crumpler and Marcelo Mendez scored 18 points apiece and the Bulldogs (5-11, 3-9) defeated the visiting Gorillas (8-8, 6-6). Peyton Buchanan scored 22 points to lead Davenport.

Northwest Christian 58, Wilbur-Creston 33: Jacob Gray scored 13 points and the visiting Crusaders (10-7, 9-3) defeated the Wildcats (2-15, 2-11). Josh Maynard scored 11 points for Northwest Christian.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 72, Tekoa-Rosalia 44: Bryce Kelly scored 26 points and the Broncos (11-5, 8-4) defeated the host Timberwolves (4-12, 1-11). Camden Smith checked in with 12 points for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague. Craig Mueller netted 21 points for Tekoa-Rosalia.

Odessa 67, Valley Christian 40: Ryan Moffet scored 33 points and the No. 6 Tigers (17-2, 13-0) cruised past the visiting Panthers (7-12, 6-9). Jaret Mei and Sam Reece scored 10 points apiece for Valley Christian.

Wellpinit 74, Columbia 37: Butch Flett totaled 22 points and 12 rebounds and the No. 10 Redskins (13-5, 9-3) routed the visiting Lions (9-7, 7-6). Riley McLain paced Columbia with nine points.

Cusick 68, Republic 37: Colton Seymour scored 20 points and the visiting Panthers (13-5, 12-3) defeated the Tigers (5-14, 4-9). Joe Koepke led Republic with 16 points.

Selkirk 53, Northport 40: Ryan Zimmerman totaled 17 points, Thomas Huttle tacked on 10 and the visiting Rangers (9-8, 8-5) used a third-quarter burst to beat the Mustangs (6-11, 3-11). Zach Bruland led Northport with 17 points and three steals, while Trenton Baribault chipped in 10 points.

Inchelium 76, Curlew 41: Robert McKinney dropped in 28 points and the visiting Hornets (2-15, 2-12) beat the Cougars (1-16, 1-15). Seth Wright paced Curlew with 11 points.

Garfield-Palouse 46, Pomeroy 39: Ely Hawkins scored 15 points and the No. 18 Vikings (12-4, 7-2 NE1B) upset the visiting No. 2 Pirates (16-1, 9-1). Devon Caruso led Pomeroy with 22 points.

Oakesdale 56, Touchet 30: Kieron Anderson scored 21 points and the No. 16 Nighthawks (14-3, 9-2) beat the visiting Indians (7-7, 5-6). Dominic Preciado led Touchet with 12 points.

Lake City 62, Lakeland 49: James Carlson scored 17 points and the Timberwolves (9-8) beat the visiting Hawks (10-5) in a nonleague game. Dylan Vahey led Lakeland with 21 points.

Genesis Prep 84, Mullan 19: Smith Mwinuka scored 18 points and the Jaguars (15-4, 7-0) defeated the visiting Tigers (4-7, 2-4) in a North Star League game. Junior Williams scored 17 points for Genesis Prep.
