One dead, another hospitalized after apparent carbon monoxide poisoning in CdA
A woman is dead and a man hospitalized after apparently suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning Thursday evening, according to the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department.
Units from Coeur d’Alene fire departments and Kootenai Fire and Rescue responded after family members reported finding the man and woman unconscious in their home, according to a Coeur d’Alene Fire Department news release. The two were removed from the home and life saving measures were initiated; however, the woman could not be revived.
The man was transported to Kootenai Health for treatment and later transported to Seattle.
Crews found carbon monoxide levels over 280 ppm in the house’s main level and 356 ppm in the basement. At those levels the couple “would have become disoriented and unable to escape in just a couple of hours,” according to the release.
