Construction worker dies in fall at Sound Transit site

BELLEVUE, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol said a worker is dead after falling from light rail column at a Sound Transit construction site.

KING-TV reported that the man was working on the light rail extension at State Route 520 and 148th Street in Bellevue early Tuesday when he fell about 40 feet. Sound Transit said workers have been placing girders the past few days.

The Washington State Patrol responded to the site at about 3 a.m. Emergency responders performed CPR and rushed the worker to Harborview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Sound Transit said it would assist in the investigation.
