Fire crews fully contain CCC fire in Cataldo

Fire crews fully contained the CCC fire near Cataldo, Idaho, after it burned 450 acres. (Idaho Department of Lands)

Firefighters on Thursday fully contained a 450-acre wildfire in Cataldo, Idaho, about 30 miles southeast of Coeur d’Alene, according to a news release from the Idaho Department of Lands.

Burning fuel from inside the containment lines will still cause smoke to drift into the air, but it is not a threat for spreading the fire, according to the news release.

The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes from Cataldo to Kingston, the CCC road Cataldo to Wall Ridge Road and FS road No. 259 on Cataldo Mountain will remain closed, according to the news release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
