Girls basketball: Cambrie Rickard’s game-winning free throws help St. George’s beat Newport

Cambrie Rickard sank three free throws with no time left on the clock and St. George’s (6-5) stunned visiting Newport (1-9) 46-44 in overtime in a nonleague game on Wednesday.

With one second left in overtime and the Dragons trailing by a point, Rickard caught an inbounds pass and drew the foul on a desperation heave from midcourt. Abby Jones led all scorers with 19 points for St. George’s.

McKinley Leslie led the Grizzlies with 14 points.

Lake City 58, Cheney 30: Brooklyn Rewers scored 13 points and the Timberwolves (12-2) downed the visiting Blackhawks (4-6).

Lexi Deatherage led Cheney with nine points.

Chewelah 58, Springdale 14: Bailey Smith scored 18 points and the Cougars (8-3) raced past the visiting Chargers (2-10).
