Man sentenced for first-degree murder in drive-by shooting

Isiah J. Cavitt was sentenced to 190 months in prison on Friday for his role in a July 2018 drive-by shooting in Spokane’s Bemiss neighborhood that left Kionte M. Bullard, 21, dead.

The sentencing comes one week after Cavitt pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Cavitt, now 21, is the third person charged in connection with the murder of Bullard.

Co-defendants Christen D. Ativalu-Ford and Ashleigh Prado are awaiting trial.

Witnesses said the shooting stemmed from an incident outside Luckys Irish Pub, a downtown bar, when Cavitt challenged Bullard to a fight but Bullard refused, according to previous reporting and court documents.

Bullard then drove to his girlfriend’s house on the 3000 block of North Nelson Street and loaded their baby into the car. That’s when Bullard was shot and killed. The baby was not injured.

After she was charged with murder, Prado reportedly told police that Cavitt has asked her to drive him and his friends to the home of Bullard’s girlfriend.

Cavitt previously dated Bullard’s girlfriend, and therefore knew where she lived.
