If you’ve already watched the new episode of Netflix’s “Tiger King” documentary, and you’re looking for another true crime documentary series to fill that weird, weird void that the series has left in all of our lives, look no further. Here is a compilation of some of the most binge-able true crime documentary series and films available online. If these can’t hold you over, check out Netflix’s “Forensic Files” collection, where there are currently nine 40-episode seasons available.

‘The Staircase’

In 2003, novelist Michael Peterson was sentenced to life in prison for the alleged murder of his wife, Kathleen, but he claims to this day he found his wife at the bottom of a staircase and had no part in her death. After eight years in prison, Peterson submits a final appeal for release when his lawyers discover that not only was evidence mishandled during the case, but also key witness testimony was delivered in bad faith. To this day, Kathleen Peterson’s sisters and her biological daughter remain convinced of Peterson’s guilt. This 13-part docuseries covers, in intimate detail, the initial trial all the way through Peterson’s final appeal. “The Staircase” is available on Netflix and iTunes.

‘The Case Against Adnan Syed’

If you’ve ever listened to the wildly popular “Serial” podcast a few years back, you might already be familiar with the subject of this documentary. When Hae Min Lee’s body is found in Baltimore’s Leakin Park, the evidence seemed to point to her ex-boyfriend, 19-year-old Adnan Syed. Less than a month later, Syed was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for Lee’s alleged murder. After more than a decade, awareness of the case grew to a much more national scale when “Serial,” hosted by reporter Sarah Koenig, started gaining traction. Listeners are still questioning the case today. “The Case Against Adnan Syed” is available on Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, HBO’s various streaming services and elsewhere.

‘How to Fix a Drug Scandal’

Sonja Farak, a Massachusetts state police chemist, falls under suspicion when evidence from several narcotics cases goes missing. Meanwhile, Annie Dookhan – another chemist – is being convicted for allegedly mishandling tests at a lab on the other side of the state. The ramifications of these two cases ripple throughout the forensic and law enforcement community while the Massachusetts state attorney general’s office attempts to minimize the scandal. “How to Fix a Drug Scandal” is available on Netflix.

‘Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children’

This five-part documentary, the subject of which was recently dramatized in the second season of Netflix’s “Mindhunter” series, delves into a group of missing persons and murder cases concerning at least 30 black children in Atlanta between 1979 and 1981. The cases initially baffled law enforcement, but investigative innovations in the field of suspect profiling eventually lead to an arrest. Two episodes of “Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered” are available on HBO’s streaming services; additional episodes will become available the next three Sundays.

‘13TH’

This documentary film covers the lasting repercussions of the war on drugs, the rise of mass incarceration and what scholars, activists and politicians have come to see as a legalized form of slave labor outlined conditionally in the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Consitution. “13TH” is available on Netflix.

‘The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst’

This docuseries follows the investigation surrounding real estate heir Robert Durst’s alleged murder of his friend, Susan Burman. Durst was arrested for the alleged murder the day before the final episode of the series was released. And, when you watch the final episode, you’ll understand why. The resulting trial began in March. “The Jinx” is available on Hulu, HBO Now, Amazon Prime Video and other online streaming services.

‘Wild, Wild Country’

When followers of a controversial guru start building a utopian compound on the outskirts of a small town in Oregon, an increasingly serious conflict breaks out between them and the local ranchers who see these “Rashneeshis” as a threat. This Netflix docuseries is an account of the resulting government wiretapping scandal and the first bioterror attack to occur in the U.S. “Wild, Wild Country” is available on Netflix.
