People, pets escape Spokane Valley house fire

Two people and three dogs escaped a house fire in Spokane Valley Wednesday night.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded just before 10 p.m. to a report of smoke at 8019 E. Knox Ave.

Firefighters found the fire in a bathroom ceiling, after seeing smoke coming from attic vents.

Fire damage was contained to the bathroom and attic space above, according to the fire department.

No firefighters or residents were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
