Second man pleads guilty to murder in 2018 drive-by shooting case

The second man who shot and killed 21-year-old Kionte M. Bullard following an argument at a bar in July 2018 pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Spokane County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Christen D. Ativalu-Ford, 18, of Pierce County, was charged with first-degree murder more than a year ago, after witnesses and fingerprints linked him to the shooting scene. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 13. Spokane County prosecutors have recommended a sentence of 123 months in prison.

Police say Ativalu-Ford and Isiah J. Cavitt, 22, shot Bullard to death after an argument outside Lucky’s Bar in downtown Spokane, where Cavitt challenged Bullard to a fight, according to court documents.

The men later tracked Bullard to his girlfriend’s house on the 3000 block of North Nelson Street and killed him just after he placed his 1-month-old baby in his car.

Cavitt was sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison in September.

The woman who drove Ativalu-Ford and Cavitt to Bullard’s girlfriend’s home, Ashleigh Prado, 19, is scheduled to face trial for first degree-murder in March.

She was released from jail on her own recognizance in the fall and denied being involved in the shooting, according to court documents. She said she agreed to drive Ativalu-Ford and Cavitt, who she witnessed with firearms, as well as a third man, to north Spokane and saw Cavitt fire a gun.
