Man stabbed in neck pulls out blade and jumps from moving car in north Spokane
A Spokane man stabbed in the neck with a hunting knife was able to extract the blade and then tuck and roll out of a moving car near Shadle Park High School on Wednesday night.
The stabbing suspects included a petite woman with her head shaved on the sides and purple and maroon dreadlocks, and a white man in his late 20s, about 5-foot-8, weighing more than 300 pounds with a shaved head and a light red or blonde beard.
The driver of the car was last seen wearing a black athletic shirt, gray sweater, dirty blue jeans with black boots and a baseball cap. The victim said the woman wore a lot of makeup and had a mouth piercing.
Spokane police responded to a reported assault at Ash Street and Heroy Avenue at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The victim’s face and shirt were covered in blood, said Sgt. Terry Preuninger.
Officers administered first aid until the fire department and medics arrived. The victim had a cut above his eye and a puncture wound on his neck.
He told police he met up with a man and woman after inquiring about a room for rent on Craigslist, Preuninger said.
After looking at the apartment, the victim wasn’t ready to move forward with an agreement. They did discuss money, Preuninger said.
The three of them left the apartment with the male suspect driving a black SUV with the female suspect and victim in the back seat.
That’s when the victim said he saw the driver lean toward him and hit him in the neck with what he thought was a hunting knife, police said.
“The victim then pulled the hunting knife out of his neck,” Preuninger said.
The victim opened his car door, threw out his belongings and rolled out of the moving car, according to police.
The victim attempted to flag a car down for help. After first responders arrived, he was taken to MultiCare Deaconess Hospital.
Assaults while attempting to purchase items online is not uncommon, said Preuininger.
“It’s a place where predators can actually use it to find victims,” Preuninger said.
