Spokane Indians bats silent again, starter Josh Bostick leads Eugene to shutout win
EUGENE, Ore. – The struggling Spokane Indians offense was shut down again, resulting in a 3-0 loss to the Eugene Emeralds in the third of a season-ending six-game series at PK Park on Thursday.
The Indians have lost seven in a row and fell to 29-35. They have scored just 13 runs over the losing streak.
Emeralds starter Josh Bostick allowed two hits and no walks in six scoreless innings. Reliever Brayan Placencia was perfect with two strikeouts over two innings, and Junior Flores tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his first save of the season.
The Emeralds (47-17) got all the runs they needed in the first inning off Indians starter Josh Grosz, as Parks Harber and Luke Scliger delivered RBI singles to put Eugene up 2-0.
The Ems added a run in the seventh off reliever Luke Taggert. Leadoff hitter Quinn McDaniel walked on four pitches and with two down stole second. Charlie Szykowny followed with a ground ball single to left to plate McDaniel, but was thrown out when the relay was cut off.
