In his latest op-ed piece,Wayne Hoffman of Idaho Freedom Foundation wants the Big State Brother in Boise to prevent Idaho cities from adopting minimum wage hikes. Isn't this the same Wayne Hoffman who routinely opposes mandates from the Big Brother federal government. Question: Should a city have the right to raise its minimum wage?
Parks officials officially unveiled the picture plaques on the donor wall at McEuen Park Thursday. The new plaques depict the story of how McEuen Park has transformed over the years that Coeur d’Alene became a city by the lake.
Tongue firmly cheeked, Wedelyn6969 conjures the possibility of Jeremy Morris and the Hayden Family Morris becoming the focus of a reality show sooner than later, with guests like Sarah and Bristol Palin -- and maybe even Ted Nugent -- dropping by to increase ratings and shoot a few wolves.

Attorney Jeremy Morris has invited his Facebook Friends to post information about his 2nd annual Hayden Christmas Light Show to their Facebook page -- and invite all their friends to see what he has planned for his front yard from Dec. 16-20. Seems he is preparing to shuttle sightseers from the Candlelight Church to his Hayden Lake house.
Like most of us, The Bard of Sherman Avenue is having problems adjusting to daylight standard time. Today, he offers us a rhyme of his disgust with darkness so early in the afternoon.
"There’s a man in Hayden who’s using a camel, among other props, to start a war that would never happen in a truly Christian atmosphere"

On North Idaho Life, photographer Keith Boe posted this photo with the comment down the street from the Fort Sherman Chapel in the old Fortgrounds neighborhood.
I missed a nugget in the Coeur d'Alene Press story. Attorney Jeremy Morris of Hayden was planning a showdown with the homeowners association last spring, before moving into his new home. Also, he developed a strategy with another attorney to gain national attention for his battle with the HOA.
The Roman Catholic Church diocese of Boise has issued a press release re: the arrest of Kevin G. Sloniker, of Coeur d'Alene, a trucker and former youth group leader, on child molestation and child pornography charges. The release said that the Immaculate Conception Church, of Post Falls, where Sloniker once worked, isn't connected with it.

Today's Poll: Who do you side with in the neighborhood fight over the large Christmas display planned by Hayden attorney Jeremy Morris -- Morris or the homeowners association?
The uproar created by archconservatives around Idaho re: urban renewal is coming to a head in an interim committee studying the issue. State Sen. Mary Souza and her sidekick, state Rep. Kathy Sims, who are diehard opponents of Coeur d'Alene's urban renewal, are on that panel. Betsy Russell brings us up to date on its activities.
In a pointed column in the Inlander, former state senator Mary Lou Reed calls out state Sen. Mary Souza and state Rep. Kathy Sims for offering their opinions as facts in trying to tear down urban renewal in Coeur d'Alene. Says she: "I prefer to suggest that these legislators are just reckless with the truth."
Ok, I had to read this letter to the editor in the Coeur d'Alene Press today twice. Letter writer Jim Jackson of Coeur d'Alene says: "Pickleball is to tennis what LGBT is to straight." Now, there's a strong hook to get readers into the rest of the letter -- and to click on the link below.
In today's Coeur d'Alene Press editorial, Editor Mike Patrick correctly points out that that there's no war on Christmas in Jeremy Morris's Hayden subdivision. Rather, Morris, in seeking national publicity, has declared a war on his neighbors and homeowners association by demanding the right to erect a ha-huge outdoor Christmas display.
In his weekly Cheers & Jeers column, Opinion Editor Marty Trillhaase of the Lewiston Tribune gives jeers to ... former Idaho state Rep. Phil Hart, R-Hayden. Why? Hart recently offered the top bid for the Athol house that he lost to the IRS for not paying his taxes -- and requested an extension after he missed a payment on it.
Reid Hatley lost everything last June when an arsonist broke into his golf course accessory manufacturer to steal tools & then set fire to the shop and offices near the Coeur d'Alene Airport. But he has rebuilt RHI golf and held onto his business, which serves such pros as Tiger Woods. He's even resurrected his golf game.
Here's another Jeer from Opinion Editor Marty Trillhaase of the Lewiston Tribune to ... Idaho state Rep. Gary Collins, R-Nampa, chairman of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee, and Sen. Jeff Siddoway, R-Terreton, chairman of the Senate Local Government and Taxation Committee. The two have stacked deck to provide cover for tax cut call.
Responding to Shawn Vestal's column re: the devastation caused by GOP legislators resistance to Medicaid expansion, Silent Storm 0906 explains how this cruel/nonsensical stand affects her. She suffers from muscular dystrophy. In spite of that, she and her husband have had to go without much medical care for almost a decade.
I have mixed emotions after an election. On one hand, I'm glad all the shooting and fussing is over -- and that we know who the winners are. OTOH, I find it harder to feed the insatiable maw of the blog beast. Politics, after all,...
