Trib: Remembering Mike Mitchell 

In his Wednesday editorial, Opinion Editor Marty Trillhaase of the Lewiston Tribune pays tribute to the late Mike Mitchell, a former legislator and well-regarded chief of staff to governor Cecil Andrus. Mitchell died Friday at age 91.

Blanchette: Deserving of No. 1 seed 

The Gonzaga Bulldogs finished the 2016-17 regular season nearly perfect, by slamming chief rival Saint Mary's for a third time, to win the WCC postseason tournament. There can be no denying the Zags a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament now, says John Blanchette/SR.

Souza still pushing election change 

State Sen. Mary Souza, R-Coeur d'Alene, is still pushing a change that will inject partisanship into the non-partisan Coeur d'Alene School Board elections. Well, that's Huckleberries' words not hers. She wants the election date to coincide with the general election, which would mean that they would become part of the partisan process.

Bill targets squatters

I like the much-maligned "Rainbow Bridge" at McEuen Park. It's beautiful when it's lit up at night and changing colors. Photographer Duane Rasmussen snapped this photograph while covering the Indivisible North Idaho protest during the local GOP Lincoln Day Dinner Saturday. I don't think the Rainbow Bridge was part of the protest.

Ybarra rural bill squeaks past House 

State Superintendent Sherri Ybarra’s rural schools bill, HB 223, has narrowly passed the House on a 37-33 vote.
