Gen. Douglas MacArthur was a hero from two World Wars who had served as the supreme commander of the Allied forces in the Pacific. But after he was put in command of the Allied effort to liberate South Korea, MacArthur learned a difficult lesson: When you work for the president of the United States, you might disagree with him.
