Eastern Washington basketball players Ethan Price and LeJuan Watts entered the transfer portal on Monday.

With coach David Riley headed to Washington State, one of his top players from Eastern Washington has entered the transfer portal.

Former Eastern Washington coach, Whitworth player and nephew of a former Pac-12 football coach knows the Northwest terrain as well as anyone.

Tim Collins met with the Eastern Washington men’s basketball team on Wednesday morning with the goal of assuring the team that he, the EWU athletic director, had their back.

Abundant kudos are due for the rare show of program loyalty at a time when college sports have disrupted most normal notions of object permanence.

Somehow, after almost comically botching the job search for the new coach, the landing of Riley could be a winner for the WSU basketball program. But the process was an embarrassment.

The third-seeded Oregon State Beavers regrouped in the second quarter and ran away with a 73-51 win over the No. 14 seed Eagles on Friday at Gill Coliseum. 

An All-Pac-12 selection this year, Oregon State’s Raegan Beers scored at least 20 points in 11 different games this season while recording 15 double-doubles. In two Pac-12 Tournament games she made 19 of 32 shots and had four blocks and three steals. She is one reason why the Beavers ranked third in the Pac-12 in shooting (46.2%).

Unlike some of the other venues the Eastern Washington women’s basketball team could be playing this weekend, Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon, is a familiar place to nearly every player on the roster.
