LACEY, Wash. – The league that has dominated Washington high school volleyball went home this weekend with a collective 2-8 record. For those who wondered what happened to the Greater Spokane League, veteran Shadle Park coach Brooke Meyer had a simple answer.

University coach Mike Summers and his counterpart at Shadle Park, Brooke Meyer, feel as if their teams are preparing for a state tournament after just playing in one. U-Hi and Shadle qualified for state Saturday during the 3A regional at Southridge High in Kennewick. The regional brought together the top four teams in the Seattle Times volleyball poll: Southridge (26-1), U-Hi (20-7), Shadle (22-6) and Kamiakin.
It’s a familiar experience for Mead, with the sense of something new. It’s a fairly new experience for Central Valley, with the sense that it will become familiar.
