Volleyball teams get state assignments

University coach Mike Summers and his counterpart at Shadle Park, Brooke Meyer, feel as if their teams are preparing for a state tournament after just playing in one. U-Hi and Shadle qualified for state Saturday during the 3A regional at Southridge High in Kennewick. The regional brought together the top four teams in the Seattle Times volleyball poll: Southridge (26-1), U-Hi (20-7), Shadle (22-6) and Kamiakin.
