Moose Jaw trades ex-Chief Fiddler to Prince George

One week after speculating that Todd Fiddler’s Western Hockey League career had reached an end, the Moose Jaw Warriors traded the veteran forward to the Prince George Cougars. Fiddler, joining his fifth WHL team in as many seasons, was traded Monday for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2015 WHL bantam draft.

Madi Farrell figures that the severe knee injury that kept her from playing at the Idaho state volleyball tournament in 2011 has paid her back at least twofold. Farrell’s Lake City Timberwolves will open play at the 5A State tournament in Post Falls at 10 a.m. today against Madison, last year’s runner-up team.

Red-hot Portland trips up Spokane Chiefs

The Portland Winterhawks are right back at it, rising to the top of the powerful U.S. Division with eight consecutive wins. Portland captain Taylor Leier scored twice, including the winner on a power play late in the second period, as the Winterhawks edged the Spokane Chiefs 4-3 in the Western Hockey League’s premier game on Saturday night.
