Greg Chase of the Calgary Hitmen wasn’t surprised Sunday at the latest performance by his offseason practice partner. Western Hockey League scoring leader Mitch Holmberg (25 points) had a goal and an assist as the Spokane Chiefs handed the Hitmen their first home setback during a 3-2 shootout victory. Holmberg has a point in every game this year for Spokane (8-2-0-0).

Holmberg, Aviani and Zwerger score two goals each as Chiefs beat Rockets 6-3

Mitch Holmberg and Mike Aviani continued their torrid starts on Tuesday, but the play of other Spokane Chiefs provided the team with the biggest emotional lift. Holmberg, Aviani and Dominic Zwerger scored two goals apiece and several players chipped in key assists as the Chiefs (6-1-0-0) became the first Western Hockey League team to knock off the Kelowna Rockets (5-1-0-1) in regulation with a 6-3 win at the Arena.
