SkyRide opens for Hoopfest weekend

The Sky Ride at Riverfront Park will have its official opening this Friday at 10 a.m., just in time for Hoopfest. “We couldn’t miss this opportunity,” said Jon Moog, director of Riverfront Park. “People from all over the United States come to participate at Hoopfest, and it’s just a really good opportunity to showcase our city.”

Democrats, Republicans square off in race for 6th District seat currently held by Jeff Holy

Two Democratic candidates are looking to become a state representative in Washington’s 6th district. Republican Jeff Holy will leave his spot in the House this fall to pursue a bid for the state Senate. Two Democrats and two Republicans seek to replace him. The other 6th District seat is held by Republican Mike Volz, who faces a challenge from Kay Murano, executive director of the Spokane Low Income Housing Consortium.

University of Idaho president to leave after next school year

University of Idaho President Chuck Staben will leave his position at the end of next school year. “I am writing today to tell you that the Idaho State Board of Education and I have mutually decided that the 2018-19 academic year will be my last as president of the University of Idaho,” Staben said in a letter to faculty, staff and students issued Friday.
