Sharpshooting JC point guard Ahmed Ali signs with Washington State basketball team

Ali’s penchant for scoring the basketball is well-known in his home country of Canada. He’s one of just two Canadian high schoolers to have scored 100 points in a single game. Ali once scored 103, on 22 made 3-pointers.

Aztec pipeline: Ex-Washington State point guard Malachi Flynn becomes third Cougar in 8 years to leave for San Diego State

On Monday, Malachi Flynn, who just completed his sophomore season with the Cougars, announced he’d complete his career at Mountain West power San Diego State, which has only missed out on the NCAA Tournament twice since 2010. Flynn will have to sit out one season per NCAA rules, but will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Minnesota Vikings take on Washington State’s Hercules Mata’afa as undrafted free agent

Most expected Hercules Mata’afa to become the third Cougar selected in the 2018 Draft, next to offensive lineman Cole Madison and quarterback Luke Falk, who were respectively taken Saturday by the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans. Instead, he went undrafted and will sign a free-agent contact with the Minnesota Vikings.

Washington State’s Luke Falk plays waiting game, finally gets scooped up by Tennessee Titans with 199th pick

There’s already one Pac-12 record-setting quarterback in Tennessee. The Titans picked up another one, selecting Washington State’s Luke Falk with the 25th pick of the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft in Arlington, Texas.

Cole Madison was chosen with the first pick of the fifth round, the 138th pick overall, by the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. He becomes the first Cougar selected in the 2018 NFL Draft and the first WSU offensive lineman picked since 2016, when the Detroit Lions chose Spokane’s Joe Dahl.

Washington State athletic department projects $67 million hole, will discuss plans to reduce debt at Board of Regents meeting

Washington State anticipates its multiyear athletics debt will reach $67 million by the end of the 2018 fiscal year, a school spokesperson confirmed to The Spokesman-Review Friday, and the school’s Board of Regents will convene next week to formulate a plan to reduce the operating deficit.

Milan Acquaah announces transfer from Washington State, becomes fourth guard to leave program

Acquaah joins starting point guard Malachi Flynn and little-used reserve guard Jamar Ergas as the fourth member of Kent’s backcourt to leave the program this offseason. Walk-on guard TJ Mickelson has also transferred out.

Washington State, Wyoming set lunchtime kickoff for season opener in Laramie

On Wednesday, the school announced a kickoff time for its season opener at Wyoming on Sept. 1. The Cougars and Cowboys will kick off at 12:30 p.m. PDT at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. CBS Sports Network will televise the game.
