Hayden Man Held In Killing

Sheriff's detectives arrested a 37-year-old Hayden man Friday on suspicion of murder. Frederick "Rick" Donohoe is suspected of killing a Kansas City man and leaving his body in a field six miles northwest of Hayden, said Capt. Ben Wolfinger of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department.

Floods, Slides Close Roads; Drivers Told To Use Caution

North Idaho drivers watched as their roads turned into flood zones Thursday. Officials shut down Ramsey Road between Dalton and Prairie avenues as water filled the major Coeur d'Alene thoroughfare. The sheeting rain and melting snow caused rock and mud slides on several area highways.

Kids Hurt When Truck Hits Bus

Seven school children suffered minor injuries Thursday afternoon after a pickup truck slid into the back of their school bus. It was sixth time a Lakeland School District bus has been involved in an accident in the past year and a half, said Superintendent Bob Jones.

Police Surround Store Before Arresting Man

Officers from three police agencies spent more than an hour surrounding a department store Thursday as they attempted to arrest a suspected drug dealer. Officers were told Cleve S. Sampson Jr., 30, of San Bernardino, Calif., may be armed with a laser-sighted .45-caliber handgun when he walked into Shopko on Ironwood Drive.

Autopsy Shows Skier, 24, Died From Heart Problem

A heart problem killed a 24-year-old Post Falls man who collapsed while skiing at Silver Mountain, autopsy results showed Monday. Donald Ells' family said they did not know the former ski patroller was sick.
