Man Waves Gun, Then Hit, Killed By Motorist

A 20-year-old Rathdrum man was killed Saturday night when he was hit by a vehicle as he tried to cross a highway near Rathdrum. Kootenai County sheriff's officials say Keith R. Boyd had waved a gun at a woman only moments before the accident on state Highway 53.

Aim Founder Seeks Probe Of Accident Case Banks Says White Woman’s Sentence Too Light In Death Of Three Indians

A famed American Indian activist announced Tuesday that he will ask national tribal leaders to look into the deaths of three North Idaho Indians. Dennis Banks, founder of the American Indian Movement, said he believes the drunken driver responsible for their deaths received a light sentence because she is white and her victims are Native Americans.

County Inmate Attempts Suicide Twice

An inmate at the Kootenai County Jail tried twice Friday to kill herself in her jail cell, sheriff's officials said. Paula M. Alban, 24, tried to hang herself with a bed sheet early Friday morning, said Kootenai County Sheriff's Capt. Karl Thompson.

Cda Funeral Home Sued Former Employee Alleges Mishandling Of Corpses

A former employee of a local funeral home says he felt compelled to give up his goal of becoming a mortician after he watched as the mortuary he worked for mistreated corpses and violated several Idaho laws. Roger Carver filed a lawsuit against Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday asking for up to $25,000 in damages.
